We sponsor successful candidates and support the visa process.
The large English department teaches a hybrid curriculum of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), as per the German curriculum, and English as a Native Language (‘Englisch als Landesprache’). This means that there are many elements from the English National Curriculum. In the majority of year groups, we strive to teach prose, poetry, drama and non-fiction as well as many language and culture elements to fulfil the EFL requirements.
Students take the German central class exams instead of GCSEs and the International Abitur instead of A-Levels. The central class exam is English as Foreign Language. Students can choose between English as a Foreign Language and English as a Native Language for their Abitur. We offer the opportunity to take IB as a full course or as course candidate in conjunction with the International Abitur and we also offer the Cambridge IGCSE English Language.
To apply please upload your application including CV and Covering Letter to the DSL website, including details of how you meet each of the essential criteria listed on the person specification.
Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. We reserve the right to interview and appoint before the closing date.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The DSL welcomes applications from all applicants who meet the requirements for the position, however we are especially keen to receive applications from those in minority groups for which the School is currently underrepresented. We celebrate diversity and thrive on the benefits it brings.
